- 04 paninhos be boca: sujou, lavou.

Posted on Thursday, September 26, 2013

How to survive without a diaper bag
Posted on Wednesday, February 27, 2013
A oversized super cute bag that fits your style. There's nothing I liked less than a diaper bag. I'm not the most fashionable person in the world, even from my group of friends, but I like to look pretty, and I always promised myself that I would not let my pregnancy or the fact I became a mom to be all "mommy" when came to my style. And when I watched the movie "crazy stupid love", when Ryan Gosling tells Steve Carell "Your wife cheated on you because you lost sight of who you are as a man, as a husband and probably as a lover." Although I am not a man, you got the point, right? So at least I wouldn't be dragging around a diaper bag to ruin my style. Besides that, how long will you usually stay out to need an entire pack of diapers, wipes and 3 or more outfits (just in case!)? If we went out for dinner, and in 3 hours Sophia went trough five diapers, I would assume that something was disturbingly wrong with her.
So I had a Coach bag from a long time ago that have been serving the purpose perfectly. It is spacious, classic and has pockets for what i need, also has snaps on each side to make it a bit more roomy in case I run into an emergency and have to carry a few extra items.
To not look too messy, I used an Coach clutch, that I got as a gift a few Christmas ago from one of my dearest friends, to keep my personal belongings organized. Things like my wallet, my convenience store cards, coupons, pen, makeup essentials, and some other girly thing I could come up with. I did that so in case I want to go out of the door, without the my full sized bag, I could just grab my clutch and be out in seconds, no worrying if I had everything with me, and searching through the entire house.

Additionally got at a Portable Changing kit, that I keep in my bag, so I keep all the diapers, wipes, rash cream, and trash bags on the go, and if husband needs to change her while we are out, all he needs is in there. I bought my at TJMaxx for close to nothing, but you can also make your own here is a pretty easy pattern for you.

Just because I can't help myself, i always have with me my makeup case, just a few items to retouch. This case is from Coach and I found for a stealing price at a consignation shop, I couldn't even believe that was there. It looks more like a pencil case, than a makeup case, but works great for me, because it forces me to keep it simple.

Now in the car we always keep a small backpack. So if dad wants to take baby out, he doesn't need to stroll my purse around, or if we run out of diapers, or need an extra outfit for baby we can go there and grab it. Accidents happen, but not every day, if they are happening everyday, something is being done wrong.
Here is another bag I use around a lot, just to change a bit, but this one here is a bit smaller, so I can't carry my clutch in it, so I just throw my wallet in there, and so be it.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it was helpful. And take my word, you don't need to spend in a diaper bag, as cute as it looks (I never find them cute!). You won't use as much as you are paying for, so this way you make life a lot easier (meaning: cheaper) for you and your family. It can as well be a great excuse to get that so wished cute oversized bag you were looking for awhile but couldn't justify the cost. Now you can: a gift to you, and a diaper bag for the baby. :-)

What is going on?!?
Posted on Tuesday, December 13, 2011
Being pregnant isn't my most favorite thing to do for sure, and is well kicked off my bucket list. I'm ready for motherhood, done with being a expecting mother. Done. Last night was the first time that my baby stretched insider of me so hard that I thought I was going to be ripped apart. For a moment I swear that the Incredible Hulk was inside of my belly turning green and ready to come out. Thankfully I have 11 more days to go, well, if I'm delivering on the expected date of 12/25 as nobody is saying different up until now.
Wednesday we have one more ultrasound and I can't wait to see my little girl. Last time she was 6 pounds already and I wonder how much she grew. It's so fun to see her inside of me, and even if for so short time, and though a black and white monitor, is amazing and makes me feel better and more confident, that nothing is wrong with her.
I'm still trying the exercises but they are no fun, and I'm sticking with my plan of not having an epidural and going all natural. Only God knows what's in for me, but at least I have an idea of what I want.
Can't wait to celebrate Christmas with her and be a official MOM.

My favorite party dress that can be dressed down, but not so much. :-) Added a belt, a jeans jacket, flats, and there we go. I'm ready to go to work.
Weather isn't so great today. I'm not feeling so good, seems like the temperature change was too fast. Going to work, don't want to be late.
Fall is getting here. Extremely tired after a day of work, and with my make-up pretty much gone, I found a little strength to take one picture to post here. My baby started to kick inside my belly and sometimes is just amazing the feeling that it brings. It's a little bit strange, feels like I have an alien inside of me, but it reminds of what I'm growing and that I'll have a baby soon. For now, I want to skip the labor conversation, but I'll get there. I'm gaining pounds as crazy and, although I'm watching what I'm eating, I can't go on a diet now. Yesderday I walked about 5 miles (alright, alright, it took me almost two hours, but still counts as an exercise, right?) and I feel pretty good.
As I said before, not everyday is a day to dress up. Today is Saturday and we have no plans to get out of the house, unless is extremely necessary. I have a long day of studying in front of me, and my boyfriend is exausted from this past week of work. So lazy day it is for us. Although we have no plans, it doesn't mean that I will be in my pajamas, I never know if someone might show up or if I need to chase my dog along the street in one of his occasional runs. So for a hot end of summer this my outfit for today.
Ps.: Please don't judge our backyard. I know our grass isn't real grass anymore, but with so much on our plate we had no time to dedicate to our garden. :-)
- Top: Urban Behavior from three years ago definetely pre-pregnacy.
- Shorts: Gap Maternity
- Flats: Old-Navy
Every woman should have a workhorse piece. A workhorse should be that piece that goes with everything, doesn't go out of fashion easily, can be worn in every season, and matches your style. I have quite a few of these, and my favorite is this skirt. I always find a woman in a pencil skirt a must, and I own myself a good dozen of them. But now I'm pregnant, and I don't fit on any of my love bugs. So I went to Motherhood and bought one, yes you are right, one black pencil skirt with a delicious stretch band that allow my baby to grow very comfortable. I mixed with a pre-pregnancy shirt, added pumps, a simple make up, and there we go. Ready to one more day of work.
- Skirt: Motherhood Maternity (US$ 29.99 plus taxes and they gave me a shutterfly promo card of $20.00 that I can use later for my baby announcements, so pretty much paid $9.99 on the dress)
- Shirt: Banana Republic - hand me down from friend pre-pregnancy
- Black pumps: DSW
- Necklace: gift from dad
- Bracelet: gift from friend
I would never buy a dress that hugged my body so much as this dress from Motherhood. I looked the entire store and this was the only item that really caught my attention. It's perfect, simple and screams sexy. What else could I ask? The price of course: US$ 29.99 plus taxes. Perfect. I can add pretty accessories and wear through my entire pregnancy. Now that's summer it's a sexy summer dress, and over the winter I can add my boots, a cute scarf, cardigan and it will be perfect.
That said, today I'm starting a challenge. Remember when I said that having a functional wardrobe while being pregnant is pretty hard? Special when you don't have all the money to spend on clothes that you are going to wear for less than nine months. So I'm going to be posting 30 outfits (I put 30 as my minimum, if I can keep going for more it's going to be perfect). I'm work part time as a teacher and photographer, so I need to have some professional look outfits and at the same time I have a very eclectic taste. So let's see what's going to come out of it.
Being pregnant isn't easy. There's a lot going on with my body, and trust me when I say a lot going on. For the first two months my entire metabolism changed in a way that I never thought it would be possible. First I started putting weight like I was eating ten meals a day, when to say the truth I was eating pretty much nothing, because I wouldn't have the urge of eating at all. Second my wardrobe had to change, a reflection of all the weight I was gaining, and let's say, it's very frustrating when you see yourself not fitting in your clothes, but you don't look pregnant yet, although you know you are, and at the same time you have not much money to spend in all new clothes to go through for the next nine months (hoping that I'll get back to my regular size after the baby is born). Then for last but not least, all the pain that you feel while pregnant. People used to tell me and I read so many books and magazines where the other moms-to-be would say that it was the most amazing experience that they went through. Some would go to the edge of saying that they miss their pregnant months. In my head all what I could think of was: HOW? It's painful. I remember myself two weeks ago crying because I was feeling cramps allover my uterus, and was so bad, and with no stop for three, almost four days, that I thought I was about to lose my baby. And don't let me start on heartburn. I never had it, in my entire life, suddenly I have a dragon inside of my stomach and it goes firing up for days without stop.
Oh well, not all is torture. Now that my belly is showing, I do feel sexy (what's kinda weird, a sexy pregnant?). And I really don't understand why some women once they become pregnant they simply turn themselves into sweat pants, and gym cloths. I do understand everything about the budget (hello!!! I lost my job one month before I got pregnant) and sometimes is really hard to feel fashion. But thinking that most of pregnant women around have someone that love them, is our job to be cute. I'm not saying 24/7, because it's impossible at least for me, but we can put a little effort to show other people that we can take care of ourselves, your loved ones, our house and the little life that we are caring inside of us. We don't need to be housewives, but we do need to show that we can.
I decided to start this blog so I can share my pregnancy, my life, my ups and downs, and all that can come up from now on. It doesn't mean that you need to like or you need to love. Read if you wish and feel free to comment and tell me what you think, just remember that each one of us have a different opinion and I'm not here to convince you of anything. I'm here to share what I think.
