The Fault in Our Stars - Book Recommendation

The Fault in Our Stars was published in January 2012 and I started hearing about the book last year. The book written by John Green turned into a movie in June 2014. As always, I am reluctant to watch the movie until I read the book first. The only problem is that I was on the wait list at our library, to get the book, with about 60 people in front of me.

As frugal as I am I didn't want to spend the regular $12.00 on the book, but this past weekend as I was at TJMaxx, I saw the book there for $6.00 and couldn't help myself, but grab it. Score!!!

I read the entire book in hours. The story is told through the eyes of 16 year old, Hazel Grace Lancaster, a terminal lung cancer patient and how she become friends with Augustus Waters, whose osteosarcoma caused him to lose his leg. They both meet at their awkward Support Group meeting.

Reading their first conversation, and throughout the entire book, it just made me travel back to my teenager years, when I used to devour books and have all sorts of similar conversations (cancer apart) with my biggest crush and friends, when "metaphorically speaking" was way more present and relevant and our dreams were only dream.

John Green brings tears, laughter and lightness to such a delicate topic as the death of cancer. The book definitely made me realize that we only live once, and puts in perspective the time we have to live. Does it matter if we know or not how much do we have left?

♥ Enjoy!
