Lazy 5 Ranch in Charlotte, NC

About an hour from Uptown Charlotte, NC, the Lazy 5 Ranch is privately owned and operated by Henry Hampton. Opened on May 22, 1993, the ranch counts with a variety of exotic animals that can be viewed by a horse wagon ride tour or from the comfort of your own vehicle while traveling along a 3-1/2 mile safari ride.

At the time of beginning of it's operation, Mr. Hampton's family at the time consisted of 5 "lazy" people. The so called "lazy" made home to over 750 animals from 6 different continents. Be prepared to encounter cattle, horses, sheep, goats, deer, elk, giraffes, rhino, pigs, camels, llamas, kangaroos, birds, quail, pheasants, ducks, swans, porcupines and tortoises throughout the park.

We took our 2.5 year old daughter there recently and it was lots of fun. You have the option to purchase feed at the entrance. In my option one bucket per person is more than enough. They are quite big.

I recommend packing lunch/snack because you can be there for hours and the place is a bit far from everything. Also be ready for a full car wash (in and out) when you get home. Between our daughter and us feeding the animals, we had feed all over the seats and somehow some ended up even in my shoes.
